Egley Train Boise Instructors

Head Instructor
Michael Egley
Born in 1989 in a small rural town in Pennsylvania named Kittanning, my efforts on the football field and in the classroom landed me admission and a scholarship to Columbia University in the City of New York.
In 2011 I graduated cum laude from Columbia University with a degree in financial economics where I played college football.
In 2013, after listening to a Joe Rogan podcast, I started my Jitsu Jitsu training under Renzo Gracie Pittsburgh. In 2016 I quit my senior financial analyst position in Pittsburgh, PA – leaving a $90K salary – to pursue Jiu Jitsu full-time as a competitor and instructor. I saw how much Jiu Jitsu positively benefited my life in terms of confidence, social networks, fitness, self-discovery, and personal development. The more I trained the better I was as a human. I knew I wanted to spread Jiu Jitsu and build a community of like-minded individuals.
In 2017 I moved to Southern California, the “mecca” of modern day Jiu Jitsu, to test my abilities and to learn from the best Jiu Jitsu academies in the world.
In 2019 I received my brown belt from Carlson Gracie in Temecula, CA.
In 2021 I received my black belt from Keenan Cornelius in San Diego, CA. Keenan is an internationally known and respected Jiu Jitsu competitor with over 265k followers online. He also started jiujitsux.com – a leading internet website of Jiu Jitsu instructionals taught by the best practitioners in the country.
May 30, 2021 my first son, Elliot, with my partner Emily, is born.
June 2021 we move to Kuna, Idaho to raise our son near family and bring world-class Jiu Jitsu instruction to Boise.
